The Department is structured in three thematic sections:
- Mathematics
- Programming and Applications
- Computer Architecture
These sections are grouped as follows:

The Mathematics Section is composed of the faculty from the areas of Applied Mathematics, Geometry and Topology, and Mathematics Education. The section is responsible for teaching the Mathematics courses assigned to the DEIM.

The Computer Engineering Section is composed of the faculty from the areas of Computer Architecture and Technology (ATC), Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CCIA), and Programming Languages and Computer Systems (LSI). The section is responsible for teaching the Computer Science and Engineering courses assigned to the DEIM.
