Montserrat Batet is an Assistant Professor (Professor Lector) in the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). She received her MSc in Computer Science in 2005 and completed her PhD on Artificial Intelligence at URV in 2011. In 2012, she joined the LIG2P Research Center at l'École Nationale Supérieure des Mines d'Alès (France) as a full-time researcher. In 2015, she was awarded a Juan de la Cierva grant by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad and joined the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). In 2016 she received the "Dona TIC (Woman in ICT) Award" by the smartCAT (Government of Catalonia), and the "Observatori Dona, Empresa y Economia", as the most prominent female ICT researcher in Catalonia. During the 2017-2018 academic year, she served as a full-time visiting lecturer at URV. Her research interests focus on artificial intelligence, data semantics and privacy protection. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals indexed in JCR and in international conferences -one of which received a Best Paper Award. Three of her papers were highly cited, and she appeared among the top 1% most cited authors in Computer Science (WoS' Essential Science Indicators). Much of her research has been conducted within the framework of national and European research projects. She has extensive teaching experience, primarily at UOC (since 2003) and URV (since 2005). She has supervised several PhD, bachelor's and master's theses.
